An immense look alike of George W Bush… at least when ever I look at that guy… that is what I feel. In my humble opinion, that guy looks like a retard… He is immensely talented, that I do agree with. But again his follies are not to be forgiven by me.
The concept of team and a captain has been there since ages. The captain should lead from the front. But is that all that a captain has to do apart from marshaling the troops on the front? No, I think the job of a captain is much more. The person chosen to lead in cricket should be a dude who knows about the sport and more than that the spirit of the game!
This is somewhere Ponting loses out… Today at the eve of the infamous Sydney test match, I along with millions of other people witnessed his arrogance and anger on TV. His outburst on the media person was a big let down from the expectations one has from a cricketer.
I have a few questions for Mr. Ponting:
1. Sir, do you know what a video camera is? Do you know that in any international match give or take there are about 16 of those devices pointing at you. No sir, we ordinary, mentally balanced mortals do not question your integrity. We have the common sense to not question a thing which DOES NOT EXIST!!! We were watching on the TV when you made an athletic attempt (great one too) to catch the ball. I guess while making that effort you expended more energy than you had anticipated/could have afforded, hence after that effort your brain had to switch off for a moment so that you do not collapse and die. Thus I do not blame you for wrongly appealing a catch that you had grounded
.
2. Do you know that traditionally sledging is NOT allowed on the field? Do you realize that there is a limit to push a person? For your own safety and well being, I would like to remind you that the person you are sledging will at a point of time be holding a bat and you would not be having any protection… you would not want that to happen would you?
3. Do you realize that though you might be revered as the most successful captain Australia has ever produced, you might never be any ones role model on the kind of player to be. Of course people will still learn from your techniques and commitment. But I do feel & pray to god, no cricket loving person will ever tell his son to be like you in all the ways… does that not defeat the purpose of all this hulla bolo of yours???
4. Do you realize that in any game the spirit of sportsmanship is the one that should be the embodied in each and every player not the kind of spirit that a drunk brawler shows in the bar?
I am not a cricket fanatic. I do how ever say my share of prayers before every match India plays in. I remember I applauded when you guys won the 03 world cup against my dear Indian team. I have no expertise to be a cricket critic, but when ever I watch you and your boys play, I see my child hood, the time when I used to get angry over trivial matters, walk out, create commotion, intimidate the opposition (physically and mentally) the only difference I see is the level of professionalism you guys display. But as I grew up especially towards the later part of the teens, I realized how wrong I was to have behaved like that. I realized that in doing so I was killing the same spirit of game which drew me to it. For Pete’s sake… can’t you, for all your age, gather the wisdom to realize that????
